2)For me It is difficult because there is a confusion between DFD and ERD. this can be rectified by lot of practise and i have done the same.

3) The three things i have learnt from this term COIS20025 is

DFD, ERD, microsoft visio.

4) My career goal is to become system analyst.

5) This is the stepping stone in my career. The knowledge of the system development overview is the basic for the system analyst. The DFD’s and ERD are very helpful in my near future.

The object-oriented approach combines data and processes that is methods into single entities called objects. Objects usually correspond to the real things an information system deals with, such as customers, suppliers, contracts, and rental agreements. Object-oriented model is able to thoroughly represent complex relationships and to represent data and data processing with a consistent notation, which allows an easier blending of analysis and design in an evolutionary process. The goal of object-oriented approach is to make system elements more reusable, thus improving system quality and the productivity of systems analysis and design (Hoffer et al. 2002)

From this paragraph we can understand that what is object oriented approach as well as goals of object oriented approach.

The object-oriented (OO) approach follows an iterative and incremental approach to systems development. The systems development life cycle is view as consisting of several phases: inception, elaboration construction, and transition. In each phase, the developers shift through the activities of gathering requirements, analysing the requirements, designing the system, implementing the design, and testing the system. Thus the phases of the traditional system development approach do not match with those of the OO life cycle; but in each growth, all phases of the traditional life cycle (requirements, analysis, design, implementation, testing) are visited iteratively until the developers is satisfied. However, there are at times when one activity predominates over the other four – causing the systems development effort to move from the inception to expansion, then expansion to construction and from construction to transition.

The object-oriented approach uses a set of diagramming techniques known as the Unified Modelling Language (UML). It focuses on the three architectural views of a system: functional, static, and dynamic. The functional view describes the external behaviour of the system from the viewpoint of the user. Use cases and use-case diagrams are used to represent the functional view. The static view is described in terms of methods, classes, relationships, and messages, Class-responsibility-collaboration (CRC) cards, class diagrams, and object diagrams are used to represent the static view. The dynamic view is represented sequence diagrams, collaboration diagrams, and state charts. All diagrams are refined iteratively until the requirements of the information system are fully understood. And finally, the information system is developed through a grouping of traditional relational database and object-oriented programming – relatively than correct object-oriented methodology for both programming and database.

The current problem which are faced by the child health information system are, due to increase in population and a decreasing budget it is finding it difficult to cope. The main problem faced by Health Centres is that there is no national system for collecting health data on children. Thus there are no accurate records on the number of children who have been immunized and the type of vaccines they have received, no system for tracking children’s weights so that underweight children can be monitored and no consistent records of what diseases a child might have had in the past.

The information we need to find out about the Child Health Information System to develop a detailed understanding of the current system are,
Health centre information
Child information
Child vaccination information
Vaccines
Child medical visit information
Diseases

TRADITIONAL Approach:
Structured analysis is a traditional systems development technique. It is simple, time-tested and easy to understand. Structured analysis uses a series of phases, called the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), to plan, analyse, design, implement, and support and information system.

OBJECT ORIENTED APPROACH:
object-oriented analysis (O-O) combines data and the processes that act on the data into things called objects. Systems analyst use Object-Oriented to model real-world business processes and operations. The result is a set of software objects that represent actual people, things, transactions, and events. Using an O-O programming language, a programmer, then writes the code that creates the objects

The object-oriented approach uses a set of diagramming techniques known as the Unified Modeling Language or UML. It focuses on the three architectural views of a system: functional, static, and dynamic. The functional view describes the external behavior of the system from the perspective of the user. Use cases and use-case diagrams are used to depict the functional view. The static view is described in terms of methods, classes, relationships, and messages, Class-responsibility-collaboration (CRC) cards, class diagrams, and object diagrams are used to portray the static view. The dynamic view is represented sequence diagrams, collaboration diagrams, and state charts. All diagrams are refined iteratively until the requirements of the information system are fully understood. Finally, the information system is developed through a combination of traditional relational database and object-oriented programming – rather than true object-oriented methodology for both programming and data base. In this way the traditional and object oriented approaches are similar as they both have the same outcome that is fully developed information system.

Structured analysis is a traditional systems development technique. It is simple, time-tested and easy to understand. Structured analysis uses a series of phases, called the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), to plan, analyze, design, implement, and support and information system. Whereas structured analysis treats processes and data as separate components, object-oriented analysis (O-O) combines data and the processes that act on the data into things called objects.
